The Poetics of Fragility is a kaleidoscopic bilingual exploration of the texture, vitality and aesthetics of fragility. It interweaves stories of bodily frailty with optical vignettes of nature’s delicacy to reclaim fragility as intrinsic to existence, not something to be bemoaned or overcome.

My contribution to the project was in the form of a bilingual artist book, in English and Spanish, that emerged out of conversations sparked by screenings of the film. Working with form, text, language, texture, typography and paper this work elaborates key project ideas: the relationships of fragments to the whole, book design as a means to explore the mutation of form, tactility and understanding. The form of the book is a wooden box and the pages multidirectional offering multiple, distinctive and overlapping pathways in inviting others to (re)think with the creators.
