KYA BOLE: STREET SPEAK FROM AROUND INDIA

typography instillation

An artwork created using nine scripts from different parts of the country to celebrate the apparent diversity while also drawing attention to the nuanced similarities.

Phrases from radio ads in Baroda, buses in Kolkata, tea stalls in Kochi, auto drivers in Chennai, taxi stands in Pune, mandis in Bengaluru, movie songs in Bhubaneshwar, beauty parlours in Amritsar and grandmothers in Guntakal all sit together as visual provocations, both familiar and unfamiliar, as they do commonly on the streets on India.
